ASME President, 1995-1996
Daniel T. Koenig, P.E., is senior vice president of manufacturing technology at AAVID Thermal Technologies in Laconia, N.H., and the 114th president of ASME International (1995-1996). During his presidency, he spearheaded a major program to increase the relevance of ASME to mechanical engineers working in industry. Previously, he was vice president of manufacturing at Steinway & Sons, from 1987 to 1994. At Steinway, Mr. Koenig implemented methods to improve the production of pianos, efforts which enhanced product quality while at the same time reducing operating costs. Mr. Koenig began his career at General Electric Company, where he remained for 21 years. While at GE, he held various engineering and managerial positions and was responsible for implementing computer-based manufacturing methods and techniques. Mr. Koenig is a graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and Union College, Schenectady, N.Y., where he received his master of science in mechanical engineering in 1970.
