Nathan H. Hurt is the manager of business development at the Los Alamos Technical Associates, Inc., Broomfield, Colorado.
Long active in ASME, he has served on the Board of Governors and in a variety of other positions, among them, vice president of the General Engineering Technical Group, member of the Council on Engineering, member of the National Agenda Committee, chairman of the Management Division, member of the Gantt Medal Award Board, and vice chairman of the now defunct Rubber and Plastic Technical Division.
Mr. Hurt was born in Missouri and went to high school in Denver. He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado, graduating with honors. He also attended the Montana School of Mines and the University of Southern California. He took advanced technical courses at Case Western Technical Institute and executive management courses at Pennsylvania State University.
Before joining Los Alamos Technical Associates, Mr. Hurt was program director of research and development for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, Akron, Ohio from 1986-1987.
Earlier he held a number of positions with the Goodyear Atomic Corporation, a subsidiary of the Goodyear Tire & rubber Company: president, 1984-86; general manager in Piketon, Ohio, 1977-1984; deputy general manager and expansion program director in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, 1975-1977; deputy general manager in Piketon, 1972-1975, and manager, plant engineering and maintenance, Piketon, 1968-1972.
He joined the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in 1947 as an engineer on the corporate engineering staff and then held several engineering and plant management positions in the 1950’2 and 1960’s, including three years as a consultant in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on loan to Petroleo Brasiliero. Mr. Hurt served in the Navy during World War II.
A registered professional engineer in Ohio, Mr. Hurt is a member of the American Institute of Nuclear Materials Management, American Society of Engineering Management, and Tau Beta Pi and Pi Tau Sigma hornor societies. He is a former member of the National Society of Professional Engineers and the Atomic/Industrial Forum.
He is listed in several Who’s Who in engineering, in finance and industry, in the midwest, and in society. His civic activities have included serving on the boards of hospitals and chambers of commerce in several Ohio cities, as well as serving as a Boy Scout leader.
Mr. Hurt is married and the father of two sons and three daughters. He lives in Evergreen, Colorado. |
