Honda, Soichiro
(1906-1991), Japanese industrialist and mechanical engineer, received more than 100 patents, pioneered new engine designs and founded the Honda Motor Company, Ltd.(1948), which by 1959 was the leading motorcycle manufacturer in the world and by the 1980s a leader in the automobile industry. He was born Nov. 17, 1906, Shizuoka prefecture, Japan, and died Aug. 5, 1991, Tokyo.
