ASME Eyewitness Series: Finite Element Method (FEM)

Eyewitness Overview With QuoteOverview

Welcome to the FEM Eyewitness site. The Eyewitness Project is an on-line catalyst, funded by the Alfred P Sloan Foundation. It is an effort to describe and document the development of FEM (also known as FEA - Finite Element Analysis), the evolution if its applications and the contrinbution of the people who were instrumental in making it happen.

On-line gathering of information offers unprecedented opportunities for sharing and disseminating information. Part of our task is making the interaction easy for participants. The other part is encouraging the stories and reminiscences and, hopefully, identifying and locating significant records and reports, which demonstrate the evolution (the breakthrough's and breakdowns) of specific areas of technology.

We invite you to help us build this resource by reviewing the various sections of the site and communicating with us and submitting comments, suggestions, documents and images that will help capture the story of this amazing technology
