Carlson, Chester F.
(1906-1968), U.S. inventor of Xerography, an electrostatic dry-copying process that was, in its later stages, developed by Battelle Memorial Institute, Columbus, Ohio, a nonprofit industrial research organization. Haloid Company, in Rochester, New York, obtained the commercial rights in 1947 and introduced the first Xerox office copier in 1958. He was born Feb. 8, 1906, Seattle, Wash., and died Sept. 19, 1968, New York City.
