[7] In the middle panels of the display is a selection of honors and awards presented by ASME, including brief descriptions and recipient rosters.
The fifth and sixth panels, right of center, highlight commemorations and dedications, including memorabilia from the major anniversaries of ASME and congratulatory plaques and gifts from other organizations. Notable among them are a flag flown on the space shuttle Columbia in 1982, the molds and medallions for major ASME anniversaries, the Mechanical Engineering 50th anniversary issue, a silver tray given to ASME by Rear-Admiral George W. Melville, a silver gavel presented to the Auxiliary in 1958, and a wooden plate from the National Technical Organization of Albania [7]. Various items from the estate of W. F. Durfee (who served on the Council 1883-1886 and 1896-1898) decorated ASME offices for many years, and his drawing instrument is still a Society possession [8].
To the far right in the case are plaques from various countries, including Germany [9], New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, Korea, China and India. Below is a silver mug from the Institute of Ireland, a silver tray commemorating the Union of Pan-American Engineering Societies (UPADI) in 1980 (from Mexico) and a small native sculpture from Canada. Many more of these mementos from other countries can be seen in the library.
