Video FileASME's IShow: Celebrating Innovation and the Entrepreneurial Spirit

Inspiring students to be product innovators and entrepreneurs, ASME's Innovation Showcase (IShow) provides a platform for top collegiate student teams to compete for seed money to commercialize their idea.  While demonstrating their technological creativity and business acumen, winners must provide the commercial feasibility of their products to a judging panel and audience of successful innovators, industry experts, venture capitalists, and intellectual property specialists for the ultimate reward:  Industry recognition and access to over $20K in seed funds.

The IShow was founded in collaboration with the National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance (NCIIA) and the Idea to Product (I2P) competition at the University of Texas, Austin.

KMIR ASME IShow Interview
Student Inventors in the Valley

They could be millionaires and they're just out of college. We're talking about student inventors.

We had the IShow in Palm Desert over the weekend and six new inventions were showcased.

Their creators are from universities across the country and the IShow brings a chance for students to win some prize money.

The inventors of one devise say they've found the least invasive way to do surgery in the upper-body. The guys who came up with it are only 23.

"I guess considering our age and the time frame we've done it, that's pretty cool, and I guess people see at as a pretty good accomplishment," says Kyle Fath.

The event was sponsored by ASME and organization dedicated to engineering innovations.
