Thank you for your interest in ASME’s Innovation Showcase. This application process is open to all graduate and undergraduate teams at colleges and universities in the United States.
ASME’s IShow provides the full experience of technology product commercialization, bridging the gap between engineering school practicum to business school theories. In partnership with the National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance (NCIIA), successful teams will attend Advanced Invention to Venture workshops (www.invention2venture.org/advancedi2v) where they will learn about technology commercialization and business plan development.
Prior to the competition, ASME IShow teams will be matched with mentors from their local entrepreneurial community – angel fund investors, universities, and technology-based economic development services – to help them refine their product, develop a business model, and create a product “pitch” or elevator speech.
A panel of judges will select the most innovative and commercially feasible ideas, with winners awarded in seed funds as well as industry recognition. Cash awards for the 2009 ASME IShow will be distributed as follows:
$10,000 – first place team $7,000 – second place team $5,000 – third place team
There is no limit to the number of entries per academic institution. Competition registration and materials submission take place via online NCIIA tools.
| 2009 ASME ISHOW COMPETITION TEAM SOLICITATION IS CLOSED. |
Teams interested in participating in the ASME IShow must submit a one (1) page product/service summary addressing the following seven topics:
What is your product? What market need does your product meet? What is the size of the market? What is the underlying technology or technologies in your product? How is the underlying technology unique and innovative? Who will buy the product and why? What intellectual property protection will be used?
Entries will be judged on the potential and likelihood that these concepts will result in a viable proposal for the Product Service Plan deadline. Applications will be evaluated on the strength, innovativeness, and feasibility of the idea. Geographic diversity will also be considered in selecting the seven ASME IShow teams.
