eMentoring For Early Career Engineers including Graduate Students

Mentors are a great way to gain knowledge and learn from the experiences of experts in your field.  ASME offers a mentoring service right at your fingertips, no travel required.

The E-mentoring program, now in its seventh year, is a great way to network with professional members of the society via email.  This program is available to all ASME early career members who have been out of college for up to 5 years.  There are over 600 mentors with expertise in fields including aerospace, biomechanics, design engineering, manufacturing, petroleum, power plant, waste management, pressure vessels and piping, nuclear engineering, process industries, management and engineering sales and marketing.

You can ask career questions, get a real-world perspective on the day-to-day issues facing you in the workplace and learn more about career options.  A mentor can help you get the right training, find the right niche in mechanical engineering, and help you transition more easily into the working world.  EMentoring transcends geographic boundaries and time constraints.  Online you can meet anytime, even if you are in different time zones.

ASME Early Career Members interested in finding a mentor can register online and choose your top three mentors, in order of preference.  Once ASME matches you with your mentor, (you can have up to two), an email will go out to both of you with the contact information needed to get you started.

To learn more and sign up for mentors, log onto Ementoring.
