Based on ASME's efforts to offer a user-friendly electronic product with a high degree of functionality, the 2006 edition of the ASME A17 CD-ROM for Elevators and Escalators is available in PDF format, allowing access to current and historical information on the A17 series.
Aside form links to current and historical information, the main interface incorporates useful links to email for Customer Support, ASME's Codes and Standards Website, Product Information, a website for Frequently Asked Questions where we will be able to keep you informed of any pertinent information, and cross-referenced indexes with live links.
The PDF format maintains book structure, making for an easier read. It is fully searchable, bookmarked for ease of use, and heavily linked, allowing users to jump to references and then to go back to their original position, if desired.
For convenience, JPGS of all images in A17.1 have been included with a comprehensive index, allowing users to link out to specific figures and resave as needed. This is another feature available through a link on the main interface.
For more than 10 users, customer service is requested to ask the customer for details on intended usage-i.e., number of users, LAN or WAN usage, company name, and individual contact name and phone number-and to relay such details to M. Merker, extension 8480, for price quote.
Replaced Components and Their Destruction (see C&S Publ. Memo #06-37) A144C1 and A144I1 (A17 CD-ROM [2007]) replace A01449 and A144G9 (A17 CD-ROM [2006]).
List A01449 and A144G9 as out-of-print in all of our records once A144C1 is received. Send one set of the out-of-print items to I. Rodriguez. For the purpose of replacing lost or damaged items, the service center is requested to keep 60 of each A17 CD-ROM (2006) component (item nos. A01449 and A144G9) through 12/07. Destroy the balance 90 days after A144C1 is received.
