ASME, a world-renowned leader in the mechanical engineering field will be looking to fill the position of Administrative Assistant. ASME, a not-for-profit educational and technical organization headquartered in NYC, has 120,000 members worldwide, 5 locations in the U.S. and 3 overseas, over 300 employees, and $70 million in revenue.
This position’s primary interaction will be with the Codes & Standards (C&S) managerial and technical staff, but there will also be a lot of interaction with all departments at ASME. The Administrator, Codes & Standards is largely responsible for overall administrative support to managerial and technical staff. Focus on providing high-level application of electronic systems used within C&S. Maintaining and managing large amounts of information via computer based applications.
A successful incumbent will provide specific information regarding technical assignments to public over the telephone, by mail, or by electronic means. Retrieve customer information using computer system; screen calls in order to direct customers to the proper technical staff support. Handles many routine inquiries related to ASME conformity assessment applications and renewals.
Requirements:
This position requires a two-year degree or equivalent course work in secretarial sciences and/or personal computer classes, at least one-year experience working as an office assistant or secretary with word processing. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat are a must. This person should be familiar with posting of documents to the Web, and be able prioritize and receive direction from multiple people. A successful incumbent will also be deadline oriented with strong organizational and problem solving skills.
